He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Leona Smith, along with his seven brothers/sisters.
He is survived and fondly remembered by his two daughters, Janice Hoffpauir (James Hoffpauir) and Janet Perschall; along with his three grand-daughters, three grand-sons and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was a 1st class pharmacist mate with the U.S. Coast Guard.
He was employed with the Freeport Sulphur Company from where he retired to his passion of farming and growing everything. He loved putting his hands into the earth.
