Edna Marie Crawford Scott, was the daughter of William Burnett Crawford, 1863 - 1913, and William's second wife, Elizabeth Marie Eisert Crawford, 1871 - 1944. Edna married William Thomas Scott also of Erie. See adjacent grave bio for details about their children and grandchildren. Edna had two older brothers: Walter Clarence, and Alfred Elex, and younger brothers, William Donald, and Norbert Burnett. She had a younger sister, Glady's Elizabeth (nicknamed Dolly) Crawford Stranahan. Their father died suddenly of a blood infection when Edna was only twelve. The infection, then called erysypelis, is currently easily cured using antibiotics. These were the times of large families, of more limited medical understanding, and of no monetary support of widows by a federal social security system. The children who were qualified to work then had to work to support the family, regardless of circumstance. Another sister, Cora, died in 1911 at the age of 12. A half sister, Florence, died at the age of 18, in 1908. The family resided at 48 Orchard St. in Erie from 1903, when the house was constructed, to about the forties.

Florence's mother, Margaret Bierbauer Crawford who died in 1890, also gave birth to Hattie Henrietta Crawford. Hattie died in 1979 at age 93. Hattie married John Valentine Herman, 1887 - 1967, and had two children, Evelyn Laurene Manella and Donald F. Herman. Donald died in 1959 at age 50 without marrying. Evelyn as of year 2005 has two grown daughters and three grandchildren. Evelyn lives in the Baltimore suburb, Timonium, and her children with their families are living in Virginia.
