William Williams lived on the famed grand Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. His home was 43 Euclid Avenue (after 1906 renumbered 723). It was built in 1835-1836 by masterbuilder Jonathan Goldsmith. A photo in the WRHS from the 1860s shows a Greek revival home of two stories with an offset front door, an oval window over the center, and a one-story portico to the right with columns. The house was razed in 1870. (from Showplace of America by Jan Cigliano). Today the location is just west of E. 9th St. and Euclid.

He married first Lucy Fitch on 23 May 1829 in Trumbull Co, Ohio (she b. 18 Mar 1809, daughter of Zalmon Fitch and Elizabeth Betsy Mygatt 1791-1838). With her, he had 2 children: Betsy Maria Williams and Grant Fitch Williams. Lucy died 30 Aug 1829 in Buffalo, NY.


William remarried to Laura Fitch (b. 5 Dec 1814, younger sister of Lucy Fitch Williams). With Laura, he had at least 8 children: Lucy, Laura, William George, Charles Tudor, Lucy, Edward Porter, Mary Cushing, Julia Mygatt.
