Longtime Resident of This County Died Thursday Morning
Funeral services will be held at Foster's funeral home at 2 p.m Saturday for "Aunt Molly" Evans, 90, one of Webster City's best-loved citizens, who died at 1:15 a.m. yesterday at Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient for six weeks.
Death ended a 50 year practical nursing career for Aunt Molly during which she had mothered more than 600 babies and had traveled from coast to coast to take care of mothers who insisted on having Aunt Molly for their nurse.
Burial in This City--
Rev. S. T. Lenters will officiate at the service and will be assisted by Don Yungclas of this city. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Mary Evans was born at Wilmington, Ill, on Oct. 29, 1858. With her parents she moved to a farm in the Stanhope community in the spring of 1864. She lived there until coming to Webster City 65 years ago."
It was during this time she commenced her practical nursing career and became affectionately called "Aunt Molly"--a name by which hundreds of people knew her rather than by her given name of Mary.
She continued her nursing career as long as health permitted.
Her birthdays, especially in the last few years were special events for her hundreds of "children" and the mothers whom she had assisted during the years. Her last birthday, observed three weeks ago at the hospital, was one of the biggest such events as she received numerous messages of good wishes, a large number of bouquets and several birthday cakes.
List Survivors--
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Carrie E. Deo of Webster City, and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and six brothers.
She was a longtime member of the Congregational church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years.
The motherly, generous woman, whose chief interest in life was helping others, will be missed greatly by all those she came in contact with during her long residence in Hamilton county.
