Roosevelt "Buddy" Boswell, age 90, of Currie died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 11, 1917, in Wilmington, the son of the late Dorse and Carrie Elizabeth Hicks Boswell. He was also predeceased by his wife, Pearl Lewis Boswell; a sister, Nellie Bollinger and a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Strickland.
Mr. Boswell was the oldest member of Bear Branch Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the NC National Guard and worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Surviving are his son, David Earl Boswell of Wilmington; stepdaughters, Hester Bradley of Tampa, FL and Sudie Mae Parniawski of Milford, CT; brothers, Robert "Bobby" Boswell and wife, Eunice of Leland, Ardell Boswell and Dorse Boswell, Jr. and wife, Marie all of Wilmington; sisters, Ollie M. Ben ton of Leland, Carrie Malpass and husband, Eugene of Currie, Ida Pearl Fales, Fannie M. Stephenson and Dollie E. Potter all of Wilmington; special friend, Tressie Moore of Currie; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Bear Branch Baptist Church with The Rev. Douglas Fairfax officiating.
Burial will follow in Moore Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
