Agnes "Nancy" Russel was born September 10, 1807, in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter and first-born child of Dr. Andrew and Agnes Scott Russel. She emigrated with her parents to the USA in 1834, settling in Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois.
In February 1840, she married Rev. Jacob Roberts, and they were the parents of two daughters: Agnes Russel Roberts (born January 24, 1841) and Hester Russel Roberts (born January 21, 1843). Neither child lived long, but the date of their deaths is not known. Either or both might have been stillborn, or died soon after birth.
