Adams died Friday at his residence at 408 Jackson Avenue. He was a native Upsonian and one of five sons born to native Upsonians, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Adams. Adams was employed by Thomaston Mills for 44 ½ years before retiring in 1967. He was an active church leader having served as chairman of the board of deacons in the 1930's and 1940's of New Harmony Baptist Church. Adams helped establish South Side Baptist Church and he was a member of the First Baptist Church, East Thomaston Lodge 175 Free & Accepted Mason. He was a charter member and past patron of R.E. Hightower order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Theodosia Vining Adams; two daughters, Miss Ernestine Adams, of Atlanta and Thomaston; one son, Malvin M. Adams and one brother, Marvin G. Adams both of Thomaston; two grandsons and 3 great grandchildren also survive.
