ELIZABETH NEHER DEAD
McCune Lady Passed Away Saturday Night
From Heart Failure Following Injury
Mrs. Elizabeth Neher passed away at her home on North Bennett Saturday night from heart failure caused by an injury she sustained when she fell at her home August 18. She was 80 years, 10 months and 13 days of age.
The funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by L.G. Templeton, assisted by J.H. Burkholder, and burial took place in the Osage Brethren cemetery.
The deceased was born in Rossville, Ind. October 14, 1840, and her early life was spent in that state, where she gave her heart to God in her girlhood days. She was married to Andrew Neher November 4th, 1860, and to them three children, all of whom survive were born. They are: Levi of Mound City, Mo., Daniel of McCune and David of Redlands, California.
She always lived a devoted life, few being more conscientious than she. When she believed a thing to be right she stood firm for her convictions. She was known by both old and young as "Aunt Elizabeth."
For two weeks previous to her injury she had the happy privilege of having all three of her sons and a number of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her in her home. It was always the happiest moments of her life when she could have her children around her table, which was always loaded with good things prepared by her hands.
During her last illness she exercised unusual patience and Christian fortitude. Death to her had no horrors. She often expressed her desire to pass over and be with her Savior, and her husband who preceded her over three years ago.
She belonged to a family of eight children, only two of whom survive; Leonard Wolfe of McCune and Hannah Withers of Newburg, Oregon. Besides these and her sons she leaves ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
She has been a resident of McCune for many years, and a faithful member of the Brethren church.
