Emma Laura Figgins, 94, of Caruthersville, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005 in Martin, Tenn.
Born November 25, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Casus Claud Baird and Ethel Jane Bottoms Baird. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Buddy Herman Figgins, and two brothers.
Emma was united in marriage to Glen Herman Figgins on February 7, 1932 at the home of her grandmother in Ravenden, Ark. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1982.
She was a school teacher for five years and worked at Brown Shoe Company for 17 years.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a Bible class teacher.
Mrs. Figgins leaves three sons: John Wesley Figgins and his wife Marie of Paris, Texas, Jerry Mac Figgins and his wife Maribeth of Searcy, Ark., and Bob G. Figgins and his wife Melba of Martin; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Chester Charles Baird of of Williford, Ark., and Thomas Bud Baird of Rolla; and three sisters: Maxine McKnight of Norman, Okla., Geraldine Gately of Olympia, wash., and Sue Warren, of Louisville, Ky.
Funeral services for Mrs. Figgins were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2005 at the Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville with Jimmy Colvett officiating.
Burial was at the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville with H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville in charge.
Pallbearers were Wesley J. Figgins, Russell Figgins, Robert Figgins, Michael Figgins, Michael Schoch and Matthew Figgins.
Honorary pallbearer was Todd White.
