Her obituary.
Mrs. Dr. Nelson who's sickness was mentioned last week, died later in the week. Her funeral was attended at the Lapham church on Sunday afternoon, services conducted by Rev. Mr. Bickford, pastor of the Free Will Baptist church at Wixom. Mary Cogswell was born in Cayuga county, N.Y., in the year 1813, and at the age of 19 was married to Dr. G. Nelson. In 1834 she became a member of the Free Will Baptist church at Gaines, N.Y., in which faith she continued through her life. She came to Michigan in 1842, and settled with her husband on the farm where she recently died. She was a devoted christian woman, greatly attached to her church and her family. She is survived by an aged husband, four sons, two daughters and eighteen grandchildren, who mourn the loss of one who was ever ready to sacrifice health and strength for the comfort of family. They desire through THE COURIER to express their thanks to the kind neighbors who sympathized with and assisted them in their late bereavement and to the clergyman and choir for the impressive service at the funeral.
