Walter W. French

Walter W. French, a Cass County resident, died at the Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City on Sunday, March 8, at the age of 90 years.
The son of John and Elizabeth French, he was born in the Everett Community near Archie on Feb. 2, 1880. He was, for many years, a member of the Everett Community Christian Church until the church was discontinued. At that time he transferred his membership to the Harrisonville First Christian Church.
He married Maude Bradbury on Feb. 20, 1907. The young couple established their home on a farm northwest of Archie and lived there until the farm was sold in 1960. After this time, they made their home in Harrisonville and Des Moines, Ia.
In January, 1968, French became ill while visiting his daughter, Mary, in Montrose, and entered the Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, where he remained until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Maude, four daughters, Mrs. D. C. Calhoun (Mary) of Montrose, Mrs. George J. Kappelman, (Thelma), Mrs. Willa Lee Graham, Mrs. Virginia Galbreath – all of Des Moines, Ia, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a step-sister, Mrs. Sarah Hawkins, Holton, Kans., and one nephew, Norman Donaldson, Colville, Wash.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 10, at the Atkinson-Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with Rev. Charles Pence of Appleton City officiating. Burial was at the Oakland Harrisonville Cemetery of Harrisonville.
