Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, for Eric A. Bower, 87, who died on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Anna Landry and Jacob Landry. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Ave Marie", "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles' Wings", "Here I Am Lord", and "J'irai La Voir Un Jour" for the services.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Jacqueline Chachere Mayer Bower of Lafayette; one daughter, Sandra Bower Bergeron; one son, Terry Wayne Bower; one grandson, Eric Anthony Bower, II and his wife Jenni; two great grandchildren, Haley Rae Bower and Skylar Brooke Bower; four step-daughters, Lisa Mayer, Pamela Dehm, Angela Stoute, and Stephanie Mayer; two step-sons, Chris Mayer and Mark Mayer; five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline Champagne Bower; his parents Gustave and Marie Bower; his brothers, Wilson Bower, Alphe Bower, and Curliss Bower; his sisters, Mena Bower Alleman, Laura Belle Bower Thomas, Mae Bower Albarado, and Solange Bower Domingue.

A native of Scott, Louisiana and a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Mr Bower also lived in Gueydan for several years. Eric retired from Exxon Mobile as a Lease Operator after 42 years of service. He attended St. Edmond and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Churches. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and gardening. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army where he was stationed at Camp Stewart in Georgia. Mr. Bower will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Goulas, Nathan Salswedel, Kenneth Champagne, Jerry Bordelon, Jessie Stoute, Wesley Dehm, Chris Mayer, and Mark Mayer.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Conques, Wilsey Hebert, and Dr. Howard Alleman.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SCOTT location on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
