Maxine P. Webb Morrison Willis, 81, of Glen Alpine, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 21, 2013.

Born April 13, 1932 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Kate Burns Powell.

Maxine was a member of Gilead Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She was a retired employee of Western Carolina Center, and had also worked for the Burke County School Systems and Woolworths Department Store. Maxine enjoyed working in her flower gardens and fishing.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother, Maxine is survived by her husband, Luke Hoyle Willis of the home; children, Bruce E. Webb and wife, Jackie, and David A. Webb and wife, Rachel, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Lynn, Blaine, and John Webb; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Camaron, Faith Webb, and Devan Webb; a great great-grandson, Ian Webb; and siblings, Doris Rusmisell and Catherine Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Horace Webb and Glenn Morrison; and siblings, Virginia Polly Danner, Hope Huggins, Ruby Sutton, Azalee Johnson, Charles Willie Powell, and Alfred Powell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Curtis Styles officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state on Friday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
