MURPHY - HERGOTT

The marriage of Mrs. Ruth Brenn Murphy of Alexandria to Lawrence Hergott of Gilead was announced at a post-nuptial affair held recently at the home of the groom, L. Hergott.

The couple was married Febr. 22, 1941 at Concordia, Kans., the ceremony being preformed in the Catholic church with Mr. and Mrs. Algernon Brackle of Fairbury as the only attendants.

The bride has been teaching school south of Alexandria, for the past several years. 8he is the daughter of Mrs. Mary Brenn of Alexandria. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hergott of near Gilead. He is farming four miles southwest of Gilead, a farm which he recently purchased, where Mr. and Mrs. Hergott will make their home after the close of school.

A group of about 50 guests enjoyed the no-host party at the groom's home given in honor of the young couple. They were presented with a rocker, a gift from the group

Last Rites for Lawrence Hergott Accident Victim

Lawrence L. Hergott, son of Joseph M and Matilda Hergott Sr., was born October 11, 1907, on a farm at Gilead, Neb., and had his life taken suddenly in a truck-car accident south of Gilead December 16, 1972, the age of 65 years.

Lawrence Hergott was born in the Gilead area where he resided the first 62 years of his life. He then moved to Hebron where he resided until his death.

He was a prominent business man and farmer in the Thayer county (sic) area, owner of the Lawrence L. Hergott insurance agency and an associate with York High Mark Manufacturers.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic church (sic) of Hebron, the Knights of Columbus and the Farmers Union.

He married Ruth Ellezabeth (sic) Brenn February 22, 1941 at Concordia, Kas.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Hergott of Hebron; his mother, Matilda Hergott of Fairbury; three sons, Lawrence D., Randall K., and Keven J., all of Hebron; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Patri- cia) Turdy Jr., of Ceresco, Nebr. and Mrs. B. G. (Dianne) Westerfield of Leesburg, Fla; three brothers, Francis of Orleans, Nebr., Paul and Joseph G., both of Gilead; five sisters, Gertrude Vonderhaar of Beatrice, Irene Brackle of Fairbury, Lois Daringer of Hebron, Pauline Jesse of Denver, Colo., and Florine Lenahan of Crete, Ill.; ten grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers, and one sister.

Rosary was Monday, December 18, 1972, at 8:15 p. m. in the Montgomery- Schroeder Chapel led by Msgr. William Rezabek. Mass was read by Msgr. Rezabek Tuesday, December 19, 1972, at 10 a.m., in the Sacred Heart Catholic church (sic), Hebro.

Pallbearers were Ronald Brackle, Tony Daringer, Bill Brenn, Mark Hergott, Richard Hergott and Royce Boyce. Honorary pallbearers were W.O. Baldwin, Byron Freiss, Ralph McLaughlin, Ray Springer, Albert Fink and Herman Jauert.

The organist was Mrs. Virgil Bachle and the vocalist was Robert Schutz.

Interment was in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery (sic), Hebron, Nebr. Arrangements were by Montgomery-Schroeder Funeral Home, Hebron.
