Alzec Autin

Alzec Joseph Autin, 90, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Galliano, died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.

He is survived by daughter, Dora A. Boudreaux and husband, Sterling, grandchildren, Brandon Boudreaux and wife, Karen, great-grandchildren, Bain Boudreaux and wife, Lillie; daughter, Lavon Carnagey, grandchildren, Kenneth Boudreaux Jr., Ericka Boudreaux and Seth Carnagey, great-grandchildren, Renee' Boudreaux, Triston Boudreaux, Elizabeth Boudreaux and Caleb Boudreaux; and two sisters, Irene Guidry and Clementine Eymard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Galliano Autin; his parents, Marcelin and Amelia Danos Autin; three sisters, Leoncia Dantin, Lelia Dantin and Flora Bruce; and six brothers, Leonard, Alcide, Horace, Oris, Eves and Harris
Autin.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in five of the six major campaigns in the European Theater. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and infantry badge.

He was the former postmaster of Galliano and past vice president of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a member and past president of the Holy Name Society, past deputy grand knight, past lecturer and member of the fourth degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 3150. He was an honorable member and past president of Galliano Volunteer Fire Department. He was member and past vice commander and chaplain of the American Legion Post No. 315, member of the VFW, Veterans Memorial Association and Cut Off Senior Citizens Center.
