Jennie Beise, 95, of Stewartville died Sunday October 27, 2002, at Stewartville Care Center.
She was born August 12, 1907, in rural Grundy Center, Iowa.
She grew up on the family farm in Plesant Valley Township and attended school in Racine. She worked as a nanny for the Dr. Waltman Walters family in Rochester until her marriage. On October 12, 1933, she married Arthur Beise at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plesant Valley Township.
The couple farmed in Plesant Valley Township until moving to Stewartville in 1965. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was a sunday school teacher. She was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville, it's womens society and the Stewartville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, gardening and was an avid reader.
Survivors include daughter Arlyss Beise, Stewartville; brothers Elwin Ottjes, rural Grand Meadow, Ernest (Marion) Ottjes, rural Stewartville; sister Edna Holland, Austin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, a daughter, five sisters and a brother.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., today, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Service: 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville with the Rev. Lyle Fritsch and the Rev. Dr. David Preuss officiating.
Interment: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Plesant Valley Township. Funeral Home: Griffin-Gray Funeral Home.
