From the Manhattan American of Thursday Jan 31 1946; Miss Alice Shields, a lifelong resident of Wilton Township and a fomer school teacher, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Joliet, following a short illness. She had recently undergone a serious operation. She is survived by three sisters. Misses Elizabeth and Catherine of Symerton and Mrs. Alfred Glade of Manhattan; nine nieces and six nephews. Miss Shields was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Patricks Church at Wilton. The body was removed to the Klemm Funeral Home at Manhattan from which services will be Friday morning at 9:15 o'clock to St. Patrick's Church, Wilton at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Wilmington. The community joins with relatives and friends in expressing their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.
