Loretta was the youngest child of John and Elizabeth (Sullivan) Cagney. She was baptized at Holy Family Church on December 30, 1880 and this record provides her date of birth as December 21, 1880.

CAGNEY--Loretta Genevieve Cagney, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Cagney, sister of Mrs. Nellie Duncanson Davis of Los Angeles, Mrs. Henry L. Cavanaugh, John J., Mrs. James T. Dwyer, William F., and the late James E. Funeral from residence, 1344 Arthur-av., Monday, 9:30 a.m. to St. Ignatius church, where solemn requiem mass will be celebrated. Interment Calvary.
SOURCE: Chicago Tribune, August 19, 1922

Note: Her actual age at death is complicated by the fact that the date of birth listed in her baptismal record and the one listed in Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths Index, 1916-1947 differ by 10 years. The Dec. 21, 1891 birth date listed in the Death Index would mean she was born more than a year after her father died which is unlikely. Another variant record is her passport application which lists a date of birth of Dec. 21, 1890. Whether she chose to use a later birth date or these later records are simply errors is unknown. The date of birth in the baptismal record is used here as it is most likely to be correct.
