Abram Fyvish Boxer was born on December 14, 1895 in Irkutsk, Siberia. He escaped the Czar and lived in Harbin, China. At the age of 29, Abram traveled from Kobe, Japan on the vessel, President Madison with his brother Boris who had just lost his wife and child in the 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Kobe, Japan on September 1. They arrived in Seattle Washington on October 7, 1923. Both Abram and Boris worked as hairdressers with their brothers in San Francisco, CA. Abram then went to Mexico and opened a beauty salon. He married a Russian woman named Riva Krosnova in Mexico City on January 1, 1930. According to the U.S. 1930 Census, on April 21, Abram was living with his parents, brother Boris and sister Sylvia on Ellis St. in San Francisco, but was the proprietor of a Beauty salon in Mexico City. His son, was born Enrique Aizic Abram Boxer on October 7, 1931 in Mexico City. His wife Rebecca and his son left Torreon, Cauhuila, Mexico and crossed the border at El Paso, Texas on November 17, 1934 to join him in San Francisco. His brother, Morris, suggested changing Aisic's name to something more American, so it was changed to Irvin Wolfe Boxer. (Morris named his own son, Irwin Wolf Boxer). Abram worked as a hairdresser in San Francisco until his death on September 26, 1962. He was buried on September 27 at the Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma California. His wife was interred next to him on May 20, 1996, but her side of the monument remains blank.
