Obituary from Helena's Independent Record 08/12/2005:

Vera Ramspeck Arnett, of Townsend passed away Aug. 6, 2005, in Boston.

Vera was born on March 13, 1920, to George and Belva Brewer Ramspeck, at their ranch home near Townsend, where she has lived most of her life.

Vera and Albert E. "Bud" Arnett were married in the United Methodist Church, in Townsend, on May 7, 1941, and celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 1997. During World War II, they spent three years living in Missouri and Oklahoma, in war production work, returning to Townsend in 1946 to take over the ranching operation of her parents.

Vera received her education in the Townsend Schools and graduated from Broadwater County High School in 1938. She then attended Great Falls Commercial College.

Four children were born to the couple, G. Duane, David, Doris and Dennis, who died as the result of a swimming accident in 1973.

For more than a 50-year period, Vera worked as a legal secretary for the Hooks family of lawyers in Townsend, starting with Frank T. Hooks in 1939, then for Patrick F. Hooks, the firm of Hooks & Budewitz, and the Hooks Law Firm of Patrick F. Hooks and William F. Hooks, retiring in 1991.

Vera was a member for more than 60 years of the United Methodist Church of Townsend, having served as treasurer for 34 years. She was a member of Esther Chapter No. 3, OES for more than 65 years.

Over the years, Vera always had a rather large garden and enjoyed her gardening, yard, many flowers, and being outdoors in nature's wonders. Vera did lots of sewing, knitting, crocheting and other handwork. In later years she made crocheted potholders and gave several hundred of them to her friends.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dennis, and her husband in 1997.

Survivors include Duane (Judy) of Hilliard, Ohio; David of Townsend; Doris of Mountain Home, Idaho; two granddaughters, Trina Arnett (Scott Simon) of Malden, Mass., and Lori Morgan (Don) of Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, at the Townsend United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Hart officiating. Burial will be in Deep Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Deep Creek Cemetery Association, or to the donor's choice. Connors Funeral Home will be assisting the family with the services.
