Florence was the daughter of George H. Hinckley and Abigail Shepherd. She married Charles Gilchrist on 15 November 1890 in Havelock, Pocahontas, Iowa. They were the parents of James, Charles, John Pierre, Claude, Richard, Wilma Gail, Mary, and Willard.

Dec 5, 1963 - Rolfe Reveille - Funeral services were held for Mrs Florence Gilchrist, 90, Nov 16 in the Powers Funeral Home with Rev Boulton of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Summit Hill cemetery.

Mrs Gilchrist died Nov 13, at Laurens Good Samaritan Home. Formerly Florence Hinckley, she was a daughter of Henry and Abigail Hinckley and was born June 15, 1873 at Byron, Ogle county, Illinois. The family came to Iowa when Florence was a small child and they settled near Havelock.

She was married November 13, 1890 to Charles Willard Gilchrist at Havelock. They resided in the Havelock, Laurens and Pocahontas vicinities. Mr Gilchrist preceded her in death. Mrs. Gilchrist was a charter member of the local American Legion Auxiliary unit, was a member of the O.E.S. and of the Methodist church.

Survivors include four sons: Charles of Los Angeles, CA; Claude of Clearwater, FL; Willard of Spencer; and Pierre of Arnolds Park; 11 grandchildren; 42 great great grandchildren; and also some great great grandchildren.
