Funeral Held Sunday For Mrs. Janie Bennett

With the main body of the East Ward Chapel filled to overflowing, impressive funeral services were held Sunday at 2 P.M. for Sarah Jane Wardell Bennett, whose death was chronicled in these columns last week. Bishop W.L. Adams of that ward was in charge of the services. The choirs of the two wards under the direction of Mr. Ida Burton with Itha M. Mortenson at the piano sang "Tho Deepening Trials" to commence the services. Bishop H.L. Adams of the West Ward offered the opening prayer, following which the choir sang "Rock of Ages".

Walter C. Mitchell was the first speaker after which a quartet consisting of Rex C. Ward, L.W. Peterson, Florence Joseph and Lola Dalton sang "Flowerland" with Glenna M. Ward at the piano. Mary F. Marsden was the second speaker and was followed by Barbara Adams who also read sentiments from Mrs. Bennett's co-workers and associates in the Relief Society both Stake and Ward. Ray D. Garner sang "Mother Machree" after which Bishop Adams in connection with his closing remarks, read a message of sympathy and condolence to Mr. Bennett and the family from the employees of the Southern Utah Dairy co. where he has been employed for many years. The Bishop also thanked, in behalf of the family, those who had assisted them in any way, and also those who brought the many beautiful flowers.

As a concluding number the choir sang "How Gentle God's Commands" and the closing prayer was offered by W. Clair Rowley. At the cemetery the grave was dedicated by Wm. C. Mitchell.

Pallbearers were the three sons of the deceased, Erle, Dell and Vivian, a cousin Clifton Halterman, a brother, Albert Wardell and a brother-in-law J.B. Dahlstrom. The many beautiful floral offerings were taken care of by classmates of the two daughters Vanda and Enid and by members of the Relief Society of which she was an officer.
