George was the 9th of Thomas Andrew & Martha Ellen (Gullett) Captain's 11 children.


"GEO. CAPTAIN DIES;
FUNERAL TOMORROW

Funeral services for George Captain, 32-year-old farmer, who died here Sunday morning, will be held at the farm home, nine miles east of here at 2 o'clock. Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in Captain Cemetery under the direction of the Mitchell Undertaking company.

Mr. Captain died here Sunday morning at the home of a sister, Mrs. Grace Dixon, 17 G. Street northeast. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eunice Captain; one son, George Captain; one daughter, Jacqueline Captain; three brothers, Thomas, Frank and William Captain of No. 5 district and five sisters, Mrs. Dixon of Miami, Mrs. Cordelia Bowman, Mrs. Sophronia Rickner and Mrs. Evelyn Long, all of District No. 5 and Mrs. Mary Ross of Quapaw.

Additional grief came to the family this morning through the death of Mrs. Long's husband, Richard Long, who shot himself through the heart with a shotgun at him home east of here."

"Funeral services for George Captain, a farmer near here, were held last Tuesday afternoon at the home. Mr. Captain died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Grace Dickson of Miami, last Sunday morning. He had been ill for some time and went to spend a few days with his sister to be close to a physician.

He was born and reared in this vicinity. He lived on the old Captain farm at the time of his death. He had been an active church worker in the Pentecostal church for some time. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Unis Captain; one son, George Captain and one daughter, Jacqueline Captain; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Sybil Rogers of Peoria district and Pauline and Lorene Pliler of the home; five sisters, Mrs. Cordelia Bowman, Mrs. Serfrona Rickman, Mrs. Evelyn Long, of near here, Mrs. Grace Dickson of Miami and Mrs. Mary Ross of Quapaw and three brothers, Thomas Captain, William Captain and Frank Captain of this vicinity and many friends and other relatives. The Reverend Thatcher of Seneca conducted funeral services. Burial was in the Captain Cemetery with the Mitchell Undertaking Company in charge."
