William Murphy died on the 11th of May 1865, at his late residence in Union Tp., in the 50th year of his age. Mr. Murphy had been for several years an accepted member, and useful class leader in the M E Church. He lived an exemplary Christian life and when death came it found him trusting in the blessed Redeemer, on whose breast he leaned his head and breathed out life sweetly there. Brother M leaves a wife and several children with many friends to mourn their loss. But they sorrow not even as other which have no hope. (May 26, 1865, Morgan Herald)

Memorial presented and maintained in conjunction with Murphy Nation, a multi-generational family history gateway dedicated to celebrating, documenting, preserving and providing increased awareness and access for the Murphy family pioneers of Morgan County, Ohio and their descendants and families.
