He moved his family to Morgan County, Ohio in the period between 1810-1820 and remained there until his death in 1846. Oral history accounts have identified his wife as Susan but there was no information given about her family name or history. Some researchers have theorized that her maiden name was McMichael, however there are inconsistencies with what the family knew about her and what this research suggests. For now, within the eyes of this Murphy family researcher, she will remain Susan Unknown. She passed away in 1859 while living with her daughter and family in Athens County, Ohio and is buried next to William.
