Opal Inize (Campbell) Brown passed away on July 25, 2013. She was 101 years of age. She was born in Proctor, TX on September 15th, 1911. She lived most of her life in New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Morgan Brown in 1994 and by son Jimmy Lee Brown in 2008.
Opal had three children; her oldest son Herman Wooten who's father was T. C. Wooten, then in 1938 Opal and Lee Brown married in Tucumcari, NM and had two children, Jimmy Brown and Patsy Brown. They lived in the Porter, NM community until 1989.
While there they always raised good large gardens and a lot of chickens, sometimes as many as 300 fryers and layers. They also raised about 20 head of cattle and farmed maze, broom corn, wheat and other crops. They loved farming their land. Opal and Lee moved to Bloomfield, NM in 1988. Lee passed away in 1994. Opal continued to raise some chickens and a garden until she came down with arthritis. She was 96 when she raised her last big garden. She has 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Opal had her 101st birthday surrounded by her children family and friends.
Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, July 30th, 2013, at 10:00AM in the San Jon Cemetery at San Jon, NM with C. L. Bowe officiating. Interment took place in the family plot of the San Jon Cemetery next to her husband.
Arrangements entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari, NM.
