She was born on Jan. 23, 1908, in Proctor, Texas.
She came to New Mexico in 1924. She married James B. Newman in 1926. They lived in San Jon for a number of years before moving to Tucumcari to operate a Phillips 66 service station. They moved to Bloomfield in October of 1988. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Tucumcari.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include two sisters, Opal Brown and Ida Davis, both of Bloomfield; a brother, Ellis Campbell of Carlsbad; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Bill Bowman officiated the services.
Burial was at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.
