Born in Dickenson County, he was the son of the late Tyrus (Tie) N. and Stella Wealthy Coleman.
He was a resident of Buchanan County most of his life and served in the United States Army. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and was a painter for Bethlehem Steel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Coleman; two sons, Marlin Coleman Jr. and Ronald Wayne Coleman; and two brothers, Clarence and Donaway Coleman.
Survivors: daughters, Brenda and husband, Bill Kidd, of Baltimore, Md., Sandra Bond of Kingsport, Tenn.; sons, Bruce Allen Coleman of Maxie, William Coleman of Baltimore; sister, Orpha Coleman Brown of Oakwood; brothers, Irvin Coleman of Charlotte, N.C., Roby Coleman of Maxie; three grandchildren; three nieces; and four nephews.
The funeral was conducted Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors: Ronnie Sliger and Pim Griffey officiating.
Burial followed in the Deel and Coleman Cemetery on Bull Mountain, Harman.
