FOLLOWING BIO PROVIDED BY RUSSELL PERKINS 29 JULY 2013:

There are differing accounts of his name. On William's May 4, 1898 pension reply sheet the name is written as L. H. DeSpain; on the July 23, 1898 pension reply sheet the name is Hezekiah DeSpain; on the April 8, 1915 the name is written Hezkih. His family called him Carr. His maternal grandfather's name was Hezekiah Carr Warren, therefore, I have concluded he was named for him and have shown him named Hezekiah Carr DeSpain. However, it should be noted his obituary gave his name as Ezra Carr DeSpain.

Carr was still alive when his brother Ezekiel died in 1958.

Carol Coady, July 14, 2001: Hezekiah Carr DeSpain and Lindsey C. DeSpain are the same person. He was known as "Carr" by his family. My Aunt has his name in her Bible written as "Hesacar," On one of William Perry DeSpain's pension reply pages, he is "Hezekiah" and on another he is "L. H.." He was "Lindsey H" on his marriage certificate. Census records: 1870 - Linsy H; 1880 - Linsey H; 1900 - Lindsey P; 1910 - Lindsey C. On several deed transactions with his brother, Alford Thomas, he variously used "Carr" and "Kiah."
