Mr. Reed, a native of Arkansas, had lived in Aiken since January. He had retired from Bechtel Corp. as a project manager after 21 years of service.
He was an Air Force veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Kayoko K. Reed; three sons, Mark Reed and Allan Reed, both of Aiken, and Tim Reed, Martinez, Calif.; four brothers, Steve Reed and Clyde Reed, both of Florida, Ruben Reed, Michigan, and Danny Reed, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Ann Allmon, Missouri, and Susan Sierakowski, Kentucky; and five grandchildren.
