Elvina Vallitta Scofield (sometimes call Alvina,) was born about 1846, perhaps in the Town of Kendall, Orleans Co., NY where her parents were recorded in the 1850 Federal Census. She first married Hiram Garrison, age 19 of Murray, Orleans Co. on 31 Dec 1865 in Ingham Co. Vallitta Scofield of Leslie, Ingham Co. was also 19 years of age. They had one son named Willis G. Garrison who was born 29 Oct 1866 in Leslie and died 5 May 1945. Alvina Scofield married secondly Davis Smith Chatfield on 24 Feb 1871 in Ingham Co.
Alvina Scofield and Davis Chatfield had two children in Leslie: Dora E. Chatfield, born 15 Aug 1871 and Ernest Everett Chatfield, born 20 Dec 1872. Alvina died four days after the birth of Ernest. She probably died following complications of childbirth.
