Lillian Lucinda was the daughter of Sarah Olivia Winfrey and Samuel V. Cartledge. She was born in Poplar Creek. She married Walter Gray Boyd. The couple had two children who survived to adulthood: Lilly Mae and Ida Lou. Two sons died of childhood diseases, and a third son, Augustus Minter, died at age 16 in a sawmill accident.
