Marie P. Virruso (nee Prignano), 85, of Melrose Park, died May 10.

Mrs. Virruso will be remembered for her service to her church and community, according to family members and friends. She was a life member of the Mount Carmel Altar and Rosary Society.

Mrs. Virruso was the wife of the late Henry; mother of Charles (Sandra), retired assistant chief of the Melrose Park Fire Department, Charlene Galvin, Andrew and John (fiancée Diane Jasinski); grandmother of James and Patrick (fiancée Jennifer Roby); daughter of the late Anthony, chief of the Melrose Park Fire Department, and the late Johannah (nee Meyer); sister of Anthony J. (Josephine) Prignano, a Melrose Park trustee, the late Edward (Yolanda) Prignano and the late Helen C. (the late Anthony, chief of the Melrose Park Fire Department) Zito; and aunt and great-aunt of many.

Visitation was held Thursday in Bormann Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Interment was in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
