Lanore Wilkes Scherzinger passed away after a long battle with health problems at home surrounded by her family on April 28, 2003.

She was born August 8, 1915, in Afton, Wyoming, a daughter of William Edmond and Elizabeth Moffat Wilkes.

Married Narvel Joseph Scherzinger of Louisville, Kentucky who was serving in the C.C.C. on August 20, 1937 in St. Charles, Idaho.

Later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 11, 1946.

Lanore attended school in Afton and work as a telephone operator in Star Valley.

The first ten years of their marriage they lived in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Salt Lake City in 1947.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Women church auxiliaries.

She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She was a marvelous cook, sharing her delicious breads and rolls with friends and neighbors.

She made the most delicious donuts and her children would talk her into making them for the neighborhood kids after church on Sundays.

She is a very caring and compassionate lady, quietly serving others and has always supported her husband and children in all they undertook.

She is the silent giant behind her family.

Lanore never said a harsh word about anyone; she always found the good in everyone she came in contact with.

She has an infectious laugh and couldn't stand having her feet tickled.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends.

She enjoyed the old Third Ward parties and the many activities of the old Bishopric.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Narvel, the deep love they shared for each other has touched all who saw them; children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

Her example of love, service, and faith is an inspiration to all those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her children:

Narvel Edmond (Janice Jacobsen proceeded in death), and (Dee) Scherzinger of West Valley, Nancy Graham (James proceeded in death) of Murray, Mary Jaeger of Murray, Michael (Patricia) Scherzinger of West Valley, Joseph (Esther) Scherzinger of West Valley, Joyce Hunter of Magna, James (Teri) Scherzinger of Kearns, June (Gordon) Solomon of West Jordan, and Jolene (Walter) Zoellner of Taylorsville.

They have 58 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

Other family members include Cheri (Robert) Funk, Virginia, wife of Dempesy Scherzinger, Jeanette, wife of Rudy Scherzinger, Lolo, wife of Howard Wilkes, Lucy, wife of Murray Wilkes, along with many nieces and nephews.

Also included in Patricia Pakiser of Salt Lake whom mother said was one of the family.

Preceded in death by parents, daughter Bessie (died in infancy), siblings, Howard Wilkes, Arvilla Humberg, Mary Spackman and Murray Wilkes, bother-in-laws, Rudy Scherzinger, Dempesy Scherzinger, and sister-in-law Leona Barrett all of Louisville, Kentucky.

Daughter-in-law, Janice Scherzinger, wife of Narvel Edmond, son-in-law, James Graham, husband of Nancy, grandchildren, Monica Coleman, daughter of Michael (Patricia), Brigham Scherzinger, son of Joseph (Esther), great grandchild, Nathan Jorgensen, son of Deanne (Keith).

The family wishes to express thanks to everyone in Hospice, with special thanks to Glenna, Jill, Toni, Toodie, Helen, and Steve, who took care of her at the end.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2003, at 12:00 noon at the Granite Tabernacle located at 2005 South 900 East under the direction of Deseret Mortuary.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 2, 2003 from 5:00 to 8:00 at Deseret Mortuary located at 36 East 700 South and at the Granite Tabernacle one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Estates located at 6500 South Redwood Road.
