Funeral Services for Mrs. Etta Irene T. Lee of Reedville, Virginia were held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 12 Noon with Rev. Dr. Michael Bryant, Interim Pastor, Officiating.

Etta Irene Lee was born August 18, 1920 to the late Andrew and Nora Treakle in Northumberland County, Virginia.

The household consisted of nine children. Etta was the fourth child of nine sibling, Charles, Irving, Columbus, Randolph, Mary and Mildred all preceded her in death.

Etta Irene was affectionately known to all as "Momma Etta." She was educated in the Northumberland Training School.

"Momma Etta" was baptized at an early age and was a lifetime member of The Shiloh Baptist Church in Burgess, Virginia. Etta was a faithful Sunday School attendant. she received an award from the Baptist General Convention for dedicated service. She was a member of the Beacon Lights, a member of the Missionary Circle, and member of the Busy Bees Ministry. "Momma Etta" also served as a Deaconess from 1976-1987 where she received recognition for the untiring and exceptional care of the communion table cloths.

Etta was employed by T.D. Slaughter Tomato Canning Company and Fishery for many years. Etta was later employed by the Smith Seafood Company until retirement.

On July 31, 1937, Etta was united in holy matrimony to the late Ulysses Ostn Lee. From this union three children were born Cecel Odell (deceased), Percetia Marcell, and kenneth Matthews.

Etta was a hardworking woman. He worked in her community being a good servant to all she could help. She loved gardening, flowers, sewing, cooking and baking. You could always get a meal in her home. She never said no to anyone who was in need of her help. She sacrificed herself to help others while caring for a sick husband. she showed unending love for her mother. Etta was greatly admired for her sense of style and fashion.

Now! Now! Now! Our Father in heaven called Etta home. Early Thursday morning, 4:50 a.m. to be at rest and peace while at the Lancashire Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.

Our beloved Etta leaves to cherish her precious memories her two children: Percetia Marcell Gibbons (Rev. Herbert Gibbons, Sr.) and Kenneth Matthews Lee (Katarina Lasu) of Arlington, Virginia; an adopted daughter, Chermaine Lee of Reedville, Virginia; a brother, William H. Treakle (Iona) of Reedville, Virginia; one sister, Dorothy Holley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, six great great grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A special thank you to the staff of the Lancashire Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.

Internment services were held at the church cemetery where her honorary pall bearers were: Jeffrey Gibbons, Calvin Treakle, James Treakle, Rev. Herbert Gibbons, Sr.,, Terrance Lee and William A. Lee, II. Her pallbearers were: Bruce Treakle, Kevin Treakle, Purnell Treakle, Herbert Gibbons, Jr., Lawrence Yerby, and William A. Lee, II. Her floral bearers were: Kaven Blackwell, Evelyn Robertson, Karen Treakle, Martha Blackwell, Cheryle Treakle, and Mary Treakle. Services of Comfort and Trust were provided by the Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home, Berry O. Waddy, Manager.
