Malinda was born about 1800. She arried to Gamaliel Townsend, in Feb. 1825 in Huron Co., OH, and then moved to Michigan. Her husband was a prominent pioneer in LaGrange, MI.

----

Malinda married Gamaliel Townsend on Feb 27, 1825 in Townsend Township, Huron, Ohio. After the family settled Cass County Michigan, the first log cabin school house was built on the Townsend property and Malinda was the first teacher. After her untimely death, her sister Arlantha Jane Brown took over the duties as school teacher. People used to call it the "Townsend School District" because Townsend children outnumbered any other name. Malinda had no children.
