Sarah (Gomes) daGrace Grace, 88, of Fairhaven died Thursday January 27, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Antone daGraca Grace.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Domingo and Gloria (deJesus) Gomes, she lived in Fairhaven for the past 60 years.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.

Mrs. Grace was formerly employed as a schoolteacher at St. Joseph's School in Fairhaven for many years. Beloved by her students, she was the winner of the first annual "Favorite Teacher Contest" sponsored by radio station WBSM.

She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Bridgewater State College.

Survivors include a daughter, Antoinette daGraca Grace of Brighton; two sisters, Theresa Gracie of Somerset and Gloria Woolard of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four grandchildren, Rochelle Chavier, Kimberly Grace-Jones, Jonathan Ellis, and Saranna Ellis, two great-grandchildren, Thomas Ellis and Mikayla Ellis; and nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Patricia daGraca and sister of the late Isabelle Harrington, Alice Lacerda, John Gomes, Lois Hayes, Lydia Santos, Noah "Gomez" Gomes, Dr. Samuel Gomez, and Naomi "Norma" Paiva.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday February 1, 2005 at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Cushing Cemetery.
