Martha Elizabeth Anderson Etheridge was my great great grandmother, her parents were Robert Lee Anderson and Mary Pate.

Obituary- On the morning of March 24, 1923 the heavenly chariot swung low and the spirit of Mrs. M. A. Etheridge soared out beyond the starry heights to be with Jesus. Grandma Etheridge was an old soldier of the cross, having given her heart to God at the age of 13 years, spending more than sixty years of her life as a child of God. She was a member of the Christian church from the early age of 13 years. Her membership was at Chico at the time of her death. She was born in the state of Tennessee, May 30, 1848. She lived to the good old age of 74 years, 10 months and 25 days. She was married to W. P. Etheridge in the year 1871. Her husband passed on before some years ago. She had lived in Chico about 35 years. She was the mother of 9 children all of whom survive her. All were present at the funeral except 3. Her funeral was conducted at the Christian Church by the Rev. M. F. Karns, a large audience was present. After which the remains were laid to rest to await the resurrection trump. The death of Grandma Etheridge was the passing of another old time mother, who never fell in with the ways and fashions of the world. May her Christ like example be followed by her children. Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his saints. If Jesus comes before death over takes us we will meet with her in the clouds with Jesus and all the redeemed hosts who have made their peace calling and election sure with God, and be forever with the Lord. A Friend.
