Source: The Evening Times, Sayre, Pa., dated February 1, 1993 lists the obituary of Howard Spencer Billings Sr. as follows: Howard Spencer Billings Sr., 90, of 502 Church St., Athens, died on Sunday, Jan 31, 1993 at the Bradford County Manor, West Burlington, Pa., following an extended illness. Mr. Billings was born in Sheshequin Township on April 28, 1902, the son of Wayne and Elvira Sackett Billings. He was employed by Croft Lumber for 12 years, and then worked for Bob Clark's in Waverly, Ny from 1944 until he retired in 1977. Mr. Billings was active in the Boy Scouts of America in his early years, and was a member of the Athens Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Velma, at home; his children: Irene Churukian of Rochester, NY., Eleanor Stoddard of Elmira, Donald Billings of Phoenix, Ariz., Howard Billings Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Jeannette Houghtalen of South Waverly, Pa., Rev. Robert Billings of Norfolk, Virg., and Steven Billings of Phoenix, Ariz.; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rev. Edna West of Sunbury, Pa.; a brother, Claude Billings of Athens; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Billings was predeceased by three daughters and two sons. Friends may call at the Athens Wesleyan Church, Stover's Acres, Sayre, on Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held at the church at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. David Larson, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Athens Wesleyan Church, RR 2, Stover's acres, Sayre, Pa. 18840. Arrangements were made by the Lowery Funeral Home, Athens.
