Pneumonia Claims Albert Hoppe, 98

Albert Hoppe, 98, a Clarkston resident and Garfield County farming pioneer, died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday at Tri-State Memorial Hospital of pneumonia. He had been living at 1018 Sycamore St.

Hoppe was born April 16, 1879, at Pataha Flat near Pomeroy to William and Caroline Hoppe. He lived and farmed there until 1974 when he moved to Clarkston.

A member of the United Methodist Church and Blue Mountain Grange.

He married Lillie Robinson at Pataha Flat Feb. 10, 1904. She died Sept. 14, 1948.

He and Pearl Lewis were married at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Nov. 28, 1954.

He is survived by his widow at Clarkston; two step-daughters, Norma J. Kanaan of Portland, Ore., and Gail Collins of Ukiah, Calif.; a brother, William L. Hoppe of Pomeroy; a sister, Carolyn Maxwell of Dayton, Wash.; and six step-grandchildren.

Two sons preceded him in death.

Burial is at Pataha Flat Cemetery.
