Dr. Wylie Brown was born Nov. 19th, 1834, in Marion Co., Ohio, and died March 12th, 1920, at Tucson, Ariz., aged 86 years, 3 months, 13 days.
He was married to Permelia Dillon, Nov. 16th, 1853, in Ohio, and to them were born five children, Synthia, Phoebe, Joseph, Curits and Luther, Mrs. Permelia Brown died 1864.
On Nov. 19th, 1885, he married Amanda Doty in Iowa and six children were born of this union: Wylie, Charley, Edna, Daisy, Josiah and Minnie. He moved to Kansas in 1877 and later to Cleo, Okla., where his second wife died.
On Oct. 12th, 1903, at Cleo, Okla., he married Margaret Hitchew, who survives him.
He leaves to mourn his loss: a wife, one brother, two sisters, eight children, twenty-two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Dr. Brown located at Lerado when he came to Kansas, on what is now the C. F. Whipple farm, still known to old settlers as the Dr. Brown Homestead.
Dr. Brown continued his medical practice until about two years ago. He was a charter member of the Lerado I.O.O.F. lodge and also a charter member of the I.O.O.F. lodge in Oklahoma and had been a member of that order for sixty-five years. He was also a Mason. In early life he was converted and united with the Presbyterian church and lived a good, Christian till his death.
His body arrived here Sunday morning and the funeral was held at 2 p.m. at the Lerado church with Rev. Cook of Langdon in charge and was attended by a large crowd of sympathizing friends. Interment was a 2 p.m. Monday at the Lerado cemetery with the Oddfellows in charge.
