OBIT: 9 July 1935 - Tacoma Ledger (Puyallup) - Mrs. Agnes Marshall Fields, 86, pioneer Puyallup school teacher and newspaper correspondent, died this morning at the family home, 118 9th street SW, following a lingering illness.
She had been a resident of Puyallup for 51 year, coming from Lacrosse, Wis. Born in Utica, N.Y., she moved to Lacrosse at the age of 5 and later taught there until her marriage in 1878 to the late C.C. Fields, who died in 1903. She was a member of the Episcopal church.
Mrs. Fields taught school in Puyallup in the first school building erected here, which stood across the street from the J.P. Steward school. Over 30 years ago she corresponded for Tacoma papers.
Mr. and Mrs. Fields were prominent in civic and political affairs, Mrs. Fields retaining her interest up to her death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. M.F. Porter and Mrs Mrs. Clara Case Carrotte; one son, Charles, all of Puyallup; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the family home with Rev E.C. Schmeiser officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine cemetery under the direction of Hill's funeral home.
