November 8, 1934 - July 10, 2013
DeForest/Sauk Prairie-
On Wednesday, 10 July 2013 Kathe Pullen, beloved Wife, Mother, Oma and Aunt was released from her earthly pain and suffering and joined her deeply beloved son Karl, her loving Aunts, Uncles and Father in Gods Heaven.
Kathe was a survivor of the deep depression of war-torn Germany following WWII. She was raised in wartime, with bombs raining down on her neighborhood, destroying homes, killing friends, pets, and terrifying the young girl. She spent many hours underground in flimsy shelters. She suffered the lack of food, proper clothing and a stable lifestyle. She also lost her father in the eastern (Russian) front in a war he didn't want a part in.
Kathe (Brandenstein) Pullen was born on the 8th of November 1934 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany to Wilhelm Jaux and Lina Brandenstein. She attended and graduated Bonames Gymnasium (High School), and worked in a shoe factory, until meeting her future husband at a German music venue. They shared many interests and lots of love, although some of her relatives disliked American Soldiers, most approved of the match.
Kathe married Specialist 4th class Beryl K "Pete" Pullen on 16 December 1960, and they recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary. Kathe also became a proud naturalized U.S. Citizen.
Due to the hardships of early life, Kathe suffered from many medical challenges, but was always ready to lend a helping hand to all. Kathe was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 481 for 25 plus years, she was a member of Parkside Presbyterian Church, Eagles Auxiliary #623, the Wisc. Button Society, and the National Button Society.
Kathe was an avid flower gardener, spending 8-10 hours at a time fighting weeds and admiring the results. She was a Packer fan, and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, family camping and traveling the world.
Kathe enjoyed her second home in Branson, MO. She and Pete attended many types of music shows and visiting with friends and family in the area. Kathe also was an avid reader of books.
Kathe suffered a stroke several years ago, which greatly diminished her ability to be an active participant in her favorite activities.
Kathe is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Beryl, her loving children
May God bless her and welcome her home. She will be loved forever.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road in DeForest, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
