DEATH OF JIM DUNCAN
OBITUARY
After a short period of failing health and one week's illness of complications James W. Dunkin slept quietly into death at his home in Bastrop County, Texas aged forty-five years, seven months and two days. He was born in Coryell County, Texas, came with his parents to Bastop County when six months old and made this his home the remainder of his life. A man of high character, pleasant and congenial, gentle and courageous, and a devout christian.

In the year 1893 he was married to Miss Leola Fitzpatrick. His widow and family of four sons, Aubrey, Newell, Emsy and Gordon, survive him.

About eighteen years ago Mr. Dunkin joined the Baptist Church and was ever an active and devoted member. He was for many years steward of the congregation, and Supertiendent of the Sunday School, filling both positions with that quiet dignity, which so well qualified him for the offices.

His religious life was marked by a simple childlike trust, walking humbly before God and trying in all things to perform the duty that was before him. It can be truthfully said and justly that he was a good man, a man who lived up to the ideals of conduct that made him a power in his community for the accomplishments of those things that promote social, moral and religious betterment. Among his relatives and friends his life, deeds and character will always stand as the best monument to his memory.

Besides the widow and four sons, he is survived by three brothers, George, Charley and Sam Dunkin.

Mr. Dunkin was buried in Oak Hill cemetery according to the rites of the church and with Woodmen of the World honors.
