Funeral services for Edward Ream, 94, of Alanson were held Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Indian River. Rev. Morris Reinhart officiated and burial was in Green wood Cemetery. Petoskey.
Mr. Ream died Aug. 15 at his Alanson residence.
He was born Sept. 10, 1887 in Saugatuck and moved to the Indian River area (Wildwood) in 1898.
On Oct. 12. 1911 he married the former Pearl M. Lempke. She preceded him in death in 1954 and then Mr. Ream married the former Ruby Berry on Sept. 24, 1955.
Mr. Ream was a member of the United Methodist Church in Indian River. For many years he was a strawberry grower and was awarded the title of the ‘strawberry King’ in 1927, a title he held to the present time.
Survivors include his wife Ruby; a son and daughter-in-la w, James and Beverly Ream of Alanson; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
