Maurice G. Bulington, 80, of Monon, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at his residence.
He was born June 16, 1933 in White County, Indiana to the late George S. and Dora Mae (Clark) Bulington. He graduated from Monon High School in 1952.
Maurice served in the United States Army during the Korean War, from June 25, 1953 until he was honorably discharged on May 16, 1955.
His marriage of 50 years was to Genevieve "Genny" Scherer on May 4, 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds. She survives.
He was a member of American Legion Post #0081 of Monticello, and the Monon Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years. During his time with the fire department he served as the assistant chief for several years.
Maurice started his career in the insurance business in 1955 with Dick McElroy Inc., later purchasing and operating it until his retirement in 2001. He also farmed in the Monon area.
He enjoyed golfing, gardening, yard work, fishing and flying. He received his pilot's license in 1962.
Surviving with his wife are two children; Renee Herre (husband: Brian) of Rensselaer and Randy Bulington of Monon, two grandchildren; Trenton and Megan Herre, one sister; Lois Lindquist of Monticello and three brothers; Zelith Bulington (wife: Joyce) of Marion, Lowell Lynn Bulington (wife: Darleen) of Tucson, AZ and Roger Bulington of San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Ruth Sizemore and Pearl Frederick and three brothers; Creighton, Robert and Edwin Gail Bulington
