Funeral services for Leon A. Keahey were held Monday, May 26, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crawford Magnolia Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Timothy Fuller and Rev. Terry Beals. Burial was held at the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.
Leon A. Keahey was born April 17, 1919 in Crawford, Oklahoma to Ura S. and John Wesley Keahey and died Thursday, May 22, 2003 in the Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 84.
Leon graduated from Crawford High School in 1938. He moved to Borger, Texas and worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. He was married to Leona Beavin at Elk City on October 12, 1940. Leon entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II in the medical corps. After his discharge they lived in Borger until 1950 when they moved to Crawford where Leon was a farmer and rancher.
He was a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kenneth; six brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include: his wife, Leona of the home, one son, Richard Keahey and wife, Betty of Crawford, Oklahomas; two daughters, Sandra Hammond of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ann Merritt and husband J.E. of Crawford, Oklahoma; one brother, Altus Keahey and wife, Novella of White Deer, Texas; one sister, Audrey Rorabough of San Luis Obispo, California; eight grandchildlren; nine great grandchildren; a special niece; and host of other relatives and friends.
