Reuben Harshman Dies;
Services Held Tuesday

Reuben D. Harshman, Sr., 65, Altoona, died April 17, at 5:14 a.m. at the Wilson County Hospital. Cause of death was listed as a stroke following surgery. He had been ill for five weeks.

Reuben Delvy Harshman was born August 13, 1878 at Shakerag, Indiana to Daniel P. Harshman and Emaline (Keys) Harshman. He came to Kansas in 1897. He was married January 14, 1907 to Miss Mary Viana Preble at Altoona. He had lived in or near Altoona all his married life.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Viana Harshman of The Golden Keys Home, Neodesha; four daughters, Mrs. Ruby Irene Knowles (Knoles), Cherryvale; Mrs. Clella Evelyn Lour, Altoona; Mrs. Effie Mae Snavely, Neodesha, and Mrs. Bessie Louise Riley, Neodesha; four sons, Victor Leroy Harshman, Neodesha, Reuben Delvy Harshman, Jr., Galena, Charles Harshman, Neodesha and children also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Emma, Belle, Jennie and Pearl; and two brothers, Dallas and Newton.

He united with the First Congregational Church in Indiana when a small child. He farmed near Altoona and retired in his late 60's. Mr. Harshman was a kind and devoted husband and father, and to know Mr. Harshman was to like him. He was adored by his grandchildren. He was a great lover of flowers.

Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. at the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Richards officiating. Interment was at the Altoona cemetery.

Casket bearers were Albert L. Harshman, Wendell Lour, Charles Harshman, Jr., Rex Lee Knowles, Billie Belcher and Jackie D. Harshman, all grandsons of the deceased. Dave Cheshier sang " Beyond the Sunset" and " Take my hand Precious Lord." Mrs. C. G. Smirl was organist

Out of town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Rex Knowles (Knoles), and son, Rex Lee, Cherryvale; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Lour, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Lour, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Harshman and sons, Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Harshman, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harshman, Mr. and Mrs. Bob January, Kansas City Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Delvy Harshman and family, Galena; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harshman and family, Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. Forest Harshamn and Mrs. Mary Biekel, Portland, Ind.
