On December 1, 1845 he bought (Section 30, Township 11-N, Meridian 11-W, Green county). He and Sarah had two children, Revel Estes and Melissa Jane. His children were only three and one year old when he died.
In 1846 he was appointed guardian for William Jackson Allen, Alonzo Allen, and Nancy Allen younger siblings of his wife Sarah, after their father John Allen, Jr. died.
