In about 1813, Anna married John L. Allen (1789-1862) of Connecticut, who also came from a well-established Colonial family. John had come to New York seeking the adventure of what then was "the West." He and Anna established their family and pursued farming until 1835, when the family relocated to Ypsilanti, Michigan. They were among the first settlers of that portion of the State. After about a year, however, John moved his family to Portage County, Ohio, where Anna's father had already settled. It was here in 1850 that Anna died.
Anna and John Allen were the parents of eight children: Lucy Maria (1814-unk), Artelissa (1816-1841), Alonzo Nelson (1819-1894), Marcus Wellington (1821-1883), John Milton (1823-1823), Randolph W. (1826-1854), Maria E. (1831-1866), and Israel M. (1836-1915).
